I 4 brani di questo EP sono legati da un comune denominatore: la ricerca della tranquillità. Le mie consuete armonie e melodie “solide”, definite, incastonate in strutture compositive stabili e riconoscibili lasciano stavolta il posto ad un incedere più contemplativo e rilassato, dove il ritmo si fa più lento, la superficie si dilata ed i riverberi danno spazialità a suoni di piano intimi, caldi, familiari, suoni sentiti tante volte nella stanza del piano a muro, compagno discreto con cui condividere gli spazi ed il tempo del viver quotidiano.“Upon The Hill” è la title track che apre la rassegna. Sto guardando le colline dalla finestra della mia stanza in un giorno di inizio primavera, in cui un sole timido tenta di filtrare attraverso le nuvole per riscaldare una terra ancora indurita dai rigori dell’inverno ed i raggi tenui del sole giocano con un velo di nebbia bassa non ancora dissolta ed una pioggia leggera che non vuole ancora abbandonare la scena. In questa tranquillità, le melodie del piano prendono forma e riempiono la stanza.“This day” è il brano con cui il giorno trascorso sfuma nelle prime ombre della notte; un suono ovattato e dolcemente riverberato sostiene un giro armonico compassato e discreto che sembra non voler finire, come i pensieri ed i ricordi del giorno non vogliono ancora abbandonare la mente e cedere il posto al sonno.“Folded” è un’impressione sonora, un leggero ostinato che ricorda un pensiero ricorrente ma non invadente. Come gocce di rugiada che lambiscono le foglie di un sottobosco immaginario dove i pensieri si susseguono con una delicata costanza.“Up” è il brano di chiusura. L’attenzione adesso ritorna al presente, alle azioni del “qui ora ed adesso”, alle cose da farsi per la vita che continua, con quell’incedere minimale e costante che solo le cose semplici ma essenziali sanno avere, come il suono del piano brevemente riflesso sulle pareti della stanza in un registro acuto, un suono che stavolta chiede attenzione, come la vita chiede di essere vissuta in ogni sua più minuta sfumatura. Perché nell’essenzialità delle piccole cose, vissute pienamente, sta il significato primo del nostro vivere quotidiano.
L’artista
Pianista e compositore, Dario Crisman ha compiuto studi di formazione classica proseguendoli da autodidatta. La musica ha per lui il compito di esprimere le sue sensazioni e soprattutto la ricerca di un equilibrio estetico, creativo e formale.

Album description
The 4 tracks of this EP are linked by a common denominator: the search for tranquility. My usual “solid”, defined, harmonies and melodies set in stable and recognizable compositional structures, this time leave the place for a more contemplative and relaxed pace, where the rhythm becomes slower, the surface expands and reverberations give spatiality to intimate, warm, familiar piano sounds, sounds heard many times in my upright piano room, a discreet companion with which to share the spaces and the time of daily living.“Upon the hill” is the title track that opens the EP. I am looking at the hills from the window of my room on a day of early spring, when a shy sun tries to filter through the clouds to warm a land still hardened by the rigors of winter and the soft rays of the sun play with a veil of fog low not yet dissolved and a light rain that does not want to leave the scene yet. In this tranquility, the melodies of the piano seek the shape and fill the room.“This day” is the song with which the day fades into the first shadows of the night; a muffled and softly reverberated sound sustains a measured and discreet harmonic loop that does not seem to want to end, as the thoughts and memories of the day still do not want to abandon the mind and give way to sleep.“Folded” is a sonorous impression, a slight obstinate rhythm that recalls a recurring but not intrusive thought. Like drops of dew licking the leaves of an imaginary undergrowth where thoughts follow one another with a delicate constancy.“Up” is the closing piece. The attention now returns to the present, to the actions of the “here and now”, to the things to be done for the life that continues, with that minimal and constant gait that only simple but essential things know how to have, like the sound of the piano briefly reflected on the walls of the room in a high register, a sound that this time demands attention, as life asks to be lived in every minute. Because in the essentiality of small things, fully lived, lies the first meaning of our daily life.
The Artist
Pianist and composer, Dario Crisman has completed classical studies by continuing them as self-taught. Music has the task of expressing his feelings and above all the search for aesthetic, creative and formal balance.
