La ricerca dell’autocoscienza è stata il punto di partenza di “Dangerous Journeys”, un’opera di natura piuttosto introspettiva, di carattere frammentario, che porta l’ascoltatore (cioè il viaggiatore) in vari viaggi in cui l’immaginazione è un elemento sempre presente.In questo breve album vengono rappresentati diversi viaggi (metaforici), che si riferiscono ai pericoli e alle sottigliezze del viaggio nella propria mente, mentre si cerca di raggiungere un livello profondo di consapevolezza di sé. In ogni viaggio, l’ascoltatore / viaggiatore è invitato a seguire un nuovo percorso verso la scoperta interiore, affrontando pericoli e paure, ma anche apprezzando la bellezza, la finezza e la forza che si nascondono all’interno di ogni nuovo percorso della ricerca. Pericolo, paura, bellezza, finezza, forza, caratteristiche che pervadono l’immaginazione e formano i mattoni di sogni e creazioni artistiche.Questi viaggi introspettivi terminano quando viene raggiunta la “consapevolezza di sé” (“Self-Awareness” non a caso è l’ultima traccia dell’album) e all’ascoltatore / viaggiatore è consentito concludere che ogni sogno, ogni atto di creazione artistica, è un viaggio verso il sé interiore e un percorso verso l’autoconoscenza.
L’artista
Nato nel 1998, J. Alex Dias è un compositore, musicologo ed esecutore portoghese di 20 anni. Ha studiato pianoforte, composizione e analisi, per 8 anni, con il compositore e esecutore portoghese Pedro Santos Sequeira. All’età di 16 anni, ha iniziato a pubblicare ed eseguire le sue opere in numerosi recital. Attualmente, oltre a aver completato l’ottavo anno di pianoforte dal Trinity College di Londra, sta anche concludendo il suo Bachelor in Musicology (Teoria musicale, analisi della musica e storia della musica) presso la NOVA School Of Social Sciences And Humanities (Universidade Nova De Lisboa). Si interessa principalmente alla musica moderna e contemporanea, in particolare al genere minimalista. La sua produzione musicale riflette chiaramente questo aspetto, essendosi evoluta verso uno stile minimalista sempre più moderno, con le sue opere recenti catalogabili all’interno del cosiddetto “modern classical”. Nel 2018, all’età di 19 anni, con il suo pezzo “Walking Without Faith”, si è classificato come uno dei finalisti di “The Minimal Piano Series Vol. II” il 2° concorso internazionale di composizione pianistica promosso dalla Blue Spiral Records. Ora, con l’uscita del suo nuovo album “Dangerous Journeys”, fa il debutto a livello internazionale.

Album description
The quest for self-awareness was the starting point for “Dangerous Journeys”, a work of a rather introspective nature, fragmentary in character, which takes the listener (i.e., the traveller) on various journeys where imagination is an ever-present element. Throughout this short album, different (metaphoric) voyages are portrayed, which relate to the perils and subtleties of travelling within one’s mind, while trying to achieve a profound level of self-awareness. In each journey, the listener/traveller is invited to follow a new path towards inner discovery, facing dangers and fears, but also appreciating the beauty, subtlety and strength that hide within each new path of the quest. Danger, fear, beauty, subtlety, strength, characteristics that pervade imagination and form the building blocks of dreams and artistic creations. These introspective travels end when “self-awareness” (not surprisingly, the album’s last track) is attained, and the listener/traveller is allowed to conclude that every dream, every act of artistic creation, is a journey to the inner self and a path towards self-knowledge.
The Artist
Born in 1998, J. Alex Dias is a 20-year-old Portuguese composer, musicologist and performer. He has studied piano, composition and analysis, for 8 years, with the Portuguese composer and performer Pedro Santos Sequeira. At the age of 16, he began to publish and perform his work in numerous recitals. At present, besides having completed the 8th Grade of Piano by the Trinity College London, he is also concluding his Bachelor in Musicology (Music Theory ,Music Analysis and History of Music) at the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities (Universidade Nova de Lisboa). He is mainly interested in modern and contemporary music, especially in the minimalist genre. His musical production clearly reflects this, having evolved towards an increasingly modern minimalist style, with his recent works being positioned within the so-called “modern classical genre”. In 2018, at the age of 19, with his piece “Walking Without Faith”, he ranked as one of the finalists of “The Minimal Piano Series Vol. II” Competition, the 2nd international piano composition contest promoted by Blue Spiral Records. Now, with the release of his new short album “Dangerous Journeys”, he debuts his international career.
