In realtà non vorrei dire troppo sulla musica ma più che altro lasciarla parlare da sola. C’è un pianoforte a coda (Steinway di circa 100 anni), un piano Fender Rhodes, un minimoog ecc. Strumenti fantastici con cui suonare e costruire qualcosa. Quando entro in studio mi sento sempre come un ragazzino in un negozio di giocattoli. Ci tengo affinché le mie intenzioni arrivino fino all’ascoltatore. Forse solo un commento: quando prenoti uno studio per un giorno vuoi assicurarti di essere pronto e preparato, perché davvero il tempo è denaro. Con le sessioni di registrazione per “The Way Out Is Through” ci sono stati alcuni ostacoli da superare a fine maggio 2019: 1. Ho un intenso e appassionato modo di suonare il piano. Non sono molto tenero. La sera prima della sessione di registrazione ho suonato a un evento artistico di amici, solo circa mezz’ora. Ero ambizioso di tirare su un set infuriato, ma l’assenza di un adeguato riscaldamento mi ha provocato una dolorosa tendinite alla mano destra, che ho provato a tamponare un con spray rinfrescante (che in seguito ha provocato brutti morsi di gelo …). 2. Il pianoforte a coda non era accordato come promesso … beh, quel giorno il fallimento non era nelle mie opzioni, dato che i brani dovevano essere registrati e alla fine lo furono. Il pianoforte a coda non interamente accordato conferisce alle tracce un carattere specifico che si adatta molto bene al carattere delle mie composizioni. E la mano destra funzionava (facendomi male per le successive 2 settimane… potendo suonare di nuovo il piano correttamente solo dopo circa 4 settimane). Quindi, in questo senso, “l’unica via d’uscita era attraverso” come recita il titolo dell’album. Ciò di cui sono molto contento è come è risultata la copertina. Ho avuto la fortuna di essere presentato a Nico Fontana prima di un concerto a Praga nel dicembre 2019, che inoltre ha creato anche un video dal vivo. Nico ha realizzato la grafica direttamente mentre ascoltava l’album ed è bello vedere come la musica abbia risuonato in un’altra forma d’arte. Ha molto talento e non vedo l’ora di portarlo con me per alcuni concerti quest’anno.
L’artista
André Kellerberg, originario della Germania, ma residente in Repubblica Ceca da quasi 2 decenni – è un pianista e compositore di formazione classica che collega e fonde generi diversi – con elementi di musica classica, rock, elettronica e ambientale – per creare un paesaggio sonoro unico, intimo ma con una distinta atmosfera indie. Anche il suo ultimo album “Irradiant” ha suscitato molto interesse da artisti neoclassici affermati come Michael Price. André pubblicherà il suo nuovo album nella primavera del 2020 con la Blue Spiral Records.

Album description
“Well, I actually don’t want to say too much about the music and rather let it stand on its own and speak for itself. There is a grand piano in it (100 year old Steinway), Fender Rhodes piano, minimoog etc. Cool toys to play with and build something. Always feel like a little boy in a toystore when entering the studio. As for any underlining meaning or my intentions, up to the listener. Maybe just one comment: when you book a studio for a day you want to make sure you are ready and prepared, because here really time is money. With the recording sessions for “The Way Out Is Through” there were quite some obstacles to overcome late May 2019: 1. I have a very intense and passionate way of playing the piano. I am not very tender. The evening before the recording session I played at a friends art event, just about half an hour. I was ambitious to pull of a raging set, but without the option of a warm up. Poor muscles. Caused me a painful tendosynovitis at my right hand, which I tried to treat with cooling spray (which resulted in some nasty frost bites later on…). 2. The grand piano was not tuned as promised… well, failure was not option that day as the tracks had to be recorded and they were. The not entirely tuned grand piano gives the tracks a specific character which fits very well to these songs. And the right hand was working (but hurting for the following 2 weeks…could play piano again properly after approx. 4 weeks). So in that sense, “the only way out was through”. What I am very happy about is how the cover artwork turned out. I was lucky enough to got introduced to Nico Fontana prior to a gig in Prague in December 2019 where he ended up providing live visuals. Nico created the artwork directly while listening to the album and its nice to see how the music resonated in another artform. He is very talented and I am looking forward to taking him on the road for some gigs this year.”
The Artist
André Kellerberg, originally from Germany, but living in CZ for almost 2 decades- is a classically trained pianist and composer who bridges and merges different genres- with classical, rock, electronic and ambient music elements- to create a unique soundscape, intimate but with a distinct fresh indie vibe. His latest album “Irradiant” also caught much interest by well established neoclassical artists like Michael Price. André Kellerberg will release his new album in Spring 2020 on Blue Spiral Records.
