L’EP “Dreamscapes” racconta di funzioni come dormire e sognare. I paesaggi sonori ambientali sono creati per sognare da un artista molto stanco. Il progetto è stato registrato poco prima che a Jan-Dirk Platek fosse diagnosticata la sclerosi multipla. Quasi un anno prima della diagnosi Jan-Dirk era sempre molto stanco durante il giorno e aveva bisogno di dormire più delle altre persone. L’EP cattura i sentimenti, i pensieri e le paure legate a questa malattia. A proposito, il titolo del brano G35.0 è il codice ICD (International Statistical Classification of Diseases) per la malattia chiamata sclerosi multipla.

L’artista

Nato a Velbert/Germania, Jan-Dirk Platek si dedica alla musica fin dall’infanzia. Il suo primo strumento è stato la batteria, ma presto seguirono altri strumenti come chitarra, basso e pianoforte. Il suo vivo interesse per vari strumenti è cresciuto di anno in anno. Nel corso degli anni si è trasformato in polistrumentista e cantautore. Alla fine degli anni ’90 Jan-Dirk Platek è stato attivo in varie band locali in Germania. Oggi è anche a capo del progetto rock strumentale WE DESERVEVE This e ha pubblicato diversi album con l’etichetta discografica statunitense Fluttery Records. Ma la sua vera passione è il pianoforte abbinato ai suoni tranquilli della musica modern classic. A suo nome ha composto e pubblicato numerosi brani, che sono stati inclusi nella trasmissione SOUNDSCAPES sulla BBC Radio. Le sue composizioni sono state ascoltate anche sulla nota stazione radio americana KEXP nel programma “Pacific Notions”. Per Jan-Dirk Platek, la musica strumentale per pianoforte funge da decelerazione, come via d’uscita dalla frenetica vita quotidiana. La musica e il suono sono una parte importante della sua vita.

Album description

The EP „Dreamscapes“ is about sleeping and dreaming. The ambient soundscapes are made for dreaming by a very tired artist. It was recorded shortly before Jan-Dirk Platek was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Almost one year before the diagnosis Jan-Dirk was always very tired during the day and he needed more sleep than other people. The EP captures the feeling, thoughts and fears with this disease. By the way, the song title G35.0 is the ICD code (International Statistical Classification of Diseases) for the disease called multiple sclerosis.

The Artist

Born in Velbert/Germany, Jan-Dirk Platek has been playing music since childhood. His first instrument was the drums, but other instruments such as guitar, bass and piano soon followed. His keen interest in various instruments grew from year to year. Over the years he developed into a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. In the late 90s Jan-Dirk Platek was active in various local bands in Germany. Today he is also the head of the instrumental rock project WE DESERVE THIS and has released several albums on the US record label Fluttery Records. But his real passion is the piano and the calm sounds of modern classical music. Under his own name, he composed numerous pieces that included into the broadcast SOUNDSCAPES on BBC Radio. His songs have also been heard on the well-known US radio station KEXP on the program “Pacific Notions”. For Jan-Dirk Platek, instrumental piano music serves as a deceleration, as a way out of hectic everyday life. Music and sound are an important part of his life.
