Avendo molto tempo a disposizione, stavo sfogliando la mia collezione di film e rivisitando alcuni di quelli che erano i miei preferiti, vale a dire la collezione di film di Tarkovsky (in particolare “Nostalghia”), alcuni film di Bertolucci (Ultimo Tango a Parigi, Besieged), alcuni film estremi di Gaspar Noé (Irreversible, Into the Void, Climax) e il grande film e poema sonoro Koyaanisquatsi. L’ho visto per la prima volta quando studiavo cinema un po ‘di tempo fa, insieme alla lettura di ‘La peste’ di Albert Camus, il cui soggetto sembra stranamente adatto alla situazione attuale in cui ci troviamo tutti. “Vita fuori equilibrio” a causa dell’eccessivo stile di vita della moderna civiltà. Inoltre, tutti i rumori che si verificano a casa durante la quarantena, da tutti i dispositivi tecnologici alla cucina o la TV, hanno fornito il giusto mix di ispirazione per dare il via a una speciale sfida creativa, utilizzando il “restare a casa “per scrivere e registrare un intero album in breve tempo in modo approssimativo e lo-fi. “Present / Tense” è il risultato di ciò. L’istantanea di un momento speciale nel tempo in cui la vita era “disequilibrata”, e una documentazione per il fascino voyeuristico del caos e del suo impatto su valori e comportamenti comuni; e la curiosità di come sarà la “nuova normalità” rispetto all’ansia di essere soli e al chiedersi come continuerà la vita.
L’artista
André Kellerberg, originario della Germania, ma residente in Repubblica Ceca da quasi 2 decenni – è un pianista e compositore di formazione classica che collega e fonde generi diversi – con elementi di musica classica, rock, elettronica e ambientale – per creare un paesaggio sonoro unico, intimo ma con una distinta atmosfera indie. Anche il suo ultimo album “Irradiant” ha suscitato molto interesse da artisti neoclassici affermati come Michael Price. André pubblicherà il suo nuovo album nella primavera del 2020 con la Blue Spiral Records.

Album description
With a lot of time on my hands, I was going through my film collection and revisited some old favourites of mine, namely the collection of Tarkovsky movies (especially “Nostalghia”), some Bertolucci movies (Last Tango in Paris, Besieged), more extreme Gaspar Noé films (Irreversible, Into the Void, Climax) and the great film and tone poem Koyaanisquatsi. I saw it first when studying film quite a while ago, and beside the lecture of Albert Camus’ The plague it seemed strangely fitting to the current situation we all find ourselves in. “Life out of balance” due to the excessive way of life of modern civilization. In addition to this, all the noises going on at home during the quarantine, the clattering of the sewing machine to make respirators, kitchen device, the TV, kind of provided the right inspirational mix to kick off a special creative challenge- using the “stay at home” situation to write and record a whole album within a short period of time in a rough and lo-fi way. “Present/Tense” is the result of that. A snapshot of a special point in time while life was out of balance, rather a documentation of a voyeuristic fascination of chaos and its impact on common values and behavior and the curiosity of what the “new normal” will look like than anxiety about being alone and how life will continue.
The Artist
André Kellerberg, originally from Germany, but living in CZ for almost 2 decades- is a classically trained pianist and composer who bridges and merges different genres- with classical, rock, electronic and ambient music elements- to create a unique soundscape, intimate but with a distinct fresh indie vibe. His latest album “Irradiant” also caught much interest by well established neoclassical artists like Michael Price. André Kellerberg will release his new album in Spring 2020 on Blue Spiral Records.
