‘Song for Björt’: a new release by Andor Sanderson (aka Wave of Sound) – PREMIERE

Andor Sanderson (aka Wave of Sound), who has just made his new recording together with
musicians from Berlin, the ‘Song for Björt’ opens his upcoming new album which an emotional
modern classical piece.

Andor Sanderson, who has been performing in Hungary and Italy for many years, comes with a new modern
classical song.
The new song continues the musicality and spiritual atmosphere of his album ‘Pieces & Sketches’, released
last year. This year, Andor successfully presented his solo piano pieces to the public at several events in
Italy, such as Piano City Milano, Piano Lab events and solo concert in Rome.
The newly released ‘Song for Björt’ is a really deep and emotional piece, which starts with a solo piano
introduction, but turns into a much more unified and pulsating chamber orchestra piece.
The song was released again by the Italian music label Blue Spiral Records, who have been taking care of
Andor’s publications for years.

“‘Song for Björt’ is a stop on an inner journey, a part of a story on which the entire new record will be built.
The song is about a woman who, after a long journey of self-discovery, finally arrives at a place where she
can finally rest spiritually and rebuild her inner world in a welcoming community. I imagined the song from an
outside perspective. I feel that perhaps I have written one of my most honest pieces of myself, this musical
journey is very important to me now. We really need supportive and cohesive communities, sincere hugs.
The song sums it up in this story. This song was already taking shape during the creative process of my
previous record, but it really just came out of me a few months ago.”
Andor recorded the piece presented now with a Berlin orchestra at the beginning of the summer.
“My piece is played almost entirely on solo piano, which I recorded on a beautiful Weinbach piano,
supplemented with ambient sounds and room noises, but at one point the orchestral string trio is also built
and the song transforms into a much more complex undulation. In the mixing, it was important that the sound
image opens up at this musical point, and while we hear a relatively simple and noisy piano in front of it, the
piece transforms into a beautiful whole, it was really moving to hear this part together with the orchestra for
the first time. And in the last musical part, as the cello and the piano pulsate together, gently pulling us back
and then embracing the silence around us, I think it became really honest.
The string parts were played by the wonderful members of the Berlin Session Ensemble, for which I am
extremely grateful, I think it turned out to be a beautiful end result.”
“The cover photo was taken by a great Ukrainian photographer, Elijah O’Donnell.
This part of the photo series caught my eye almost at first, as the entire picture is in motion due to the
blurring. It conveys exactly the fragility I envisioned for the song within.”
Andor has written many lyrics and poems in the past, but now a short story is being prepared for the new
record, which will tell the story of the protagonist’s journey. Now you can read an excerpt from it:
“I remember that morning, the moment I understood her journey.
In the evening we talked for a long time in the garden, the fire was burning, the little luminous plumes flew in
the dark as if I had seen a million stars.
Björt has come a long way, she introduced herself to me under this name, Björt.
Icelandic female name, meaning: brightness.
She is such a wonderful soul, I don’t think even she knows how much she gives to people.
This morning, when I opened the window of the little house in the forest with hot coffee in my hand, and
there I saw Björt in the garden, sitting on my grandfather’s old cart, under the old walnut tree and
the rising sunlight shines on her face, which is sometimes broken by huge tree branches and beautifully
green leaves.
I think that’s when I really saw Her.
The morning light coming through my window is brilliant.”
