Questo EP è un’esplorazione nel mistero. Vivo in campagna su pochi acri di terra vicino a uno stagno e un piccolo ruscello. La fauna è ovunque ed è di enorme ispirazione per me. Compongo spesso sulla veranda nel retro di casa mia. L’EP è un insieme di “poesie tonali” che riflettono le mie impressioni su questo ambiente e comprende tre brani per pianoforte e un brano per violoncello (eseguito da Clay Ruede) e pianoforte. ‘Ghost Deer’ è il mio tentativo di catturare la meraviglia di un incredibile cervo pallido, quasi bianco, che frequenta la mia proprietà. ‘Last Rain’ è un pezzo per pianoforte molto minimal ispirato a quel momento in cui la pioggia inizia a cadere per la prima volta sullo stagno. Ho sempre pensato che sia un momento così magico. ‘Quatrieme Bagatelle’ per violoncello e pianoforte è un pezzo breve e semplice – per l’appunto una bagatelle. ‘Night Bloom’ per pianoforte è la mia personale impressione di bellissimi fiori che sbocciano solo di notte nei boschi.

Art Davis è un compositore americano di genere modern classical. Ha scritto un gran numero di lavori strumentali, per il teatro, la danza e il cinema. La sua musica trae spunto da una vasta gamma di esperienze musicali, dall’elettronica ambient orchestrale e minimal al jazz, alla world music influenzata dal folk.

EP description
This EP is an exploration into mystery. I live out in the country on a few acres of land next to a pond and a small creek. Wildlife is everywhere and is a huge inspiration to me. I frequently compose out on a twenty by forty foot screened in porch on the back of my house. The EP is a set of tone poems reflecting my impressions of this environment. The EP features three piano pieces and one piece for cello choir (performed by Clay Ruede) and piano. Ghost Deer is my attempt to capture the wonder of an amazing pale, almost white, deer that frequents my property. Last Rain is a very minimal piano piece about that moment when rain first begins to fall on the pond. I’ve always thought that is such a magical moment. Quatrieme Bagatelle for cello choir and piano is a short simple piece – a bagatelle – a trifle. Night Bloom for piano is my impression of beautiful flowers that bloom only at night in the woods. Again this EP is all about mystery.
The Artist
Art Davis is a modern classical composer living in the Texas Hill Country just outside of Austin in the USA. He has written a large body of work for the concert stage, theater, dance, and film. His music draws from a wide range of musical experiences, from orchestral and minimal ambient electronica to jazz to folk-influenced world music.
